McLURG Elementary School

Goal
To promote the qualities of maturity, responsibility and leadership with our Grade 5 - 8 students within our school environment.

Points are earned in 3 catagories 1) Academics 2) Teams/Clubs 3) Community Service

There are 3 types of awards

• Award of Distinction (trophy) 1 student chosen from the Major award List
• Major Award (Plaque) Approx 300+ points
• Minor Award (Medals) Approx 250-300 points

Points may change as required the first year.
The awards are presented at the end of each school year.

Points are awarded based on the student’s effort, time devotion and energy.

1) Academics (Top)

You may earn points in 3 ways:

A) Effort Marks

Fair effort- 0-9 points per term
Good Effort 10-19 points per term
Excellent Effort 20-25 points per term

MAXIMUM OF 25 POINTS IN TOTAL PER TERM

B) Marks per term per subject
You will receive 3 points per subject listed per term for earning 70% or higher

Health/Guidance
Phys Ed
Science
Social
Arts
1 other of teacher’s choice

3x10=30

MAXIMUM OF 30 POINTS IN TOTAL PER TERM

C) A special Bonus of 5 points may be given to an OUTSTANDING student

25+30+5=60
Academic Overall Total per term = 60 points

Points are awarded by classroom teachers and/or subject specialists.

2) Teams/ Club Involvement (Top)

Points may be awarded by coaches and supervisors of these events.

3) Community Service (Top)
