APRIL 3, 2023—UPDATE 3:30 p.m.—Following the sudden closure of McLurg School today due to a water main break, Regina Public Schools has made arrangements to continue in-classroom learning for all students at McLurg School.
Beginning on Tuesday, April 4th, all classes (pre-K to Grade 8) will be temporarily accommodated at nearby Regina Public schools. Details will be shared directly with all McLurg school families in the afternoon of April 3rd.
All Kindergarten to Grade 8 students temporarily moving to other schools will be transported by school buses picking them up at McLurg School before the school day and dropped off at that same location after the end of the school day. Pre-Kindergarten parents will drop off and pick up their own child at the assigned school. For the most part, McLurg classroom teachers and others who work directly with students will follow students to their new, temporary classrooms where they will continue to learn together in their own classrooms.
Please note that there is no school on Friday, April 7th due to the holiday. In addition, the April break is from Monday April 10th to 14th inclusive and there are no classes during that time at all Regina Public schools.
It is expected that any necessary repairs, remediation and related work will be completed during the break and that students will be able to return to classes at McLurg on Monday, April 17th. There is currently no available estimate for damages or the cost of repairs at McLurg School.
